"Obama turns BP anger on regulators" is the latest news from the White House, really ?
I am flabbergasted to see that the Oil & Gas regulator who schmoozed for decades with the Oil & Gas industry and its lobbyists (read 'drinking champagne') is being hammered now that an oil spill, which had to happen......

Commodities start to rise again, China is buying copper, oil prices are going up again, it looks like the bear rally is not only limited to stocks, commodities are in demand again.
For consumers like you and me, the direct impact will be felt on the gasoline bills. The indirect impact will be an increase......

The two friends I had a bet with regarding the oil price (I bet with them that the oil price would be below 80 USD at the end of 2008), have a surprised look when I tell the the oil price is now below 40 USD per barrel. They simply cannot understand what happened, so they ask me what my view is on the......

A good proxy for economic activity is the demand of oil, and the demand looks grim. According to the US energy department, demand for oil will continue to fall in 2009 with a continued decrease of approximately 450,000 barrels per day.

The world economy is indeed in a bad shape, and it does not look......

In August this year, oil puts with strike price at 100 USD per barrel were selling at 1.8 USD per barrel. The genius investors who bought these are now looking at gains of over 2,000 % as the oil price is below 60 USD, yielding a gain of more than 40 USD per put option….......

Just look at the graph on the historical data of oil price, and then ask yourself: is it sustainable?

I do not think it is sustainable, and you probably do not think you want to continue to pay the prices we have seen when you refuel your tank.
Now, here are some statistics:
The average annual increase......

Looking back at my bet in February/March this year that the oil price would be below 80 USD/barrel by the end of the year, I think I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
After having reached a stunning 147 USD/barrel in July, and with some convulsion in September where the oil price jumped......

The headline today: OPEC members seek emergency meeting!
These guys not only made billions of dollars when demand-driven oil prices shot up, now they want to constrain the supply to keep the prices at economy-choking levels.... This is what I would call a non-long term strategic view.........

Oil prices going up and down, but 90 USD per barrel seems to be a resistance level at which oil traders feel comfortable. We will see how it evolves, as many people expected the hurricanes to impact the price, as well as the winter sales which were expected to make the price increase..........

The market turmoil is definitely not finished, with share prices tumbling and oil price jumping by as much as 25 dollars yesterday (intraday), it looks like things are going crazy for the moment.
With the oil price at more than $120 a barrel, it looks like my analysis was totally wrong, we'll see in......

In March this year I made a bet: the oil price would be below 80 USD/Barrel on the 31st of December 2008!
You can imagine that the guy I made the bet with was having a good laugh in July, when the barrel price went up to 147 $. Until last week, it was my turn to have a good laugh, the price of oil went......

After the dot-com bubble, the two industries that thrived were the Oil & Gas industry (cfr. Gazprom) and Financial Services. Any long bull run that resembles a bubble ends with a collapse, this is what we see and saw this year with Bear Sterns, Lehman Bros and Merrill Lynch with respect to the financial......

At the beginning of this year, I was discussing with an oil trader (paper trade & derivatives) and he told me that many oil traders expected the oil price to remain more or less stable (with a potential increase) before the price would go down due to the slowing american economy. Well, they got it wrong,......
